"You Shoot Like a Girl." "Oh, yeah...

...well, you wish you could shoot like a girl."

This is the piece I just finished. I'm rather pleased with it. It has a lot (a lot) of texture. Lately, I seem to be as enthralled with texture as colour. Maybe I should just throw up my hands and become a stone mason!

This detail is of the walnut-inked-and-faux-stone-sprayed egg carton lid with rhinestones. I like it.

I'm sure the antique dealer that sold me this (and the other one of the pair) of tiny miniature antique toy guns would be horrified that I glued the sucker on a piece of art!

This strand of turquoise beads was gifted to me this week - I love the texture and colour against the fibers and seam binding.

You can't tell from the photo, but the oval piece of metal is on a tiny "peg," so it stands about 3/4" on top of the square metal piece. Go ahead. Ask me how I got this 3-d piece of metal to stick to a fabric wall hanging. Just ask. See if I'll tell.

Well, that's my Sunday accomplishment. In addition to watching the entire second season of Dexter on DVD. I hope you had a lovely weekend - and that the coming week will be filled with excitement and peace and creativity and affection.

What was that antique dealer's name? I'd like to let him know...

Love texture, perhaps because it can satisfy visually and tactilely.

Tristan, this is my favorite yet of your assemblage pieces. The fabrics and bits and bobs (love the egg carton) that you have used and the way you have put everything together...brilliant.

And, no I'm not going to ask cause I have a sneaking suspicion that you will eventually tell us. LOL

Texture is everything, Tristan, and I love what you did. The juxtaposition of soft and hard, decay and beauty---very Wabi-Sabi. I am impressed.
With what you are working on, you might enjoy reading a book on Wabi-Sabi. If so, contact me by e-mail. I can recommend one that is a quick read and I think is beneficial to all mixed media artists.
Very nice---love the egg carton part!

XXXOOO!!!!!

Howdy, (somehow it just seems the appropriate greeting in keeping with the cowboy theme) I love that you glued the little antique toy gun on the collage!! As for the horrified antiques dealer, I'm certain I have horrified one or two in my day as well!!

Oh Tristan....
I am so NOT a Western Cowgirl type as I am more the NYC Treater & Broadway scene. However, I find the Rustic & Lace used together very appealing. As always, your creations are wonderful!!
Have a Productive Day!!

Kudos on your Sunday accomplishment. I am fascinated by your work. And, you gave me a chuckle about the dealer and what you did with the guns. Artistic license is what it is all about.

Very, very beautiful. I like what you did with this piece. Yep, I bet the dealer who sold you that pair of minature guns would be horrified to know what you ended up doing with them!!

Package on the way today.

Tristan,
This is the first time I have seen you create a small art quilt/assembledge and it is incredible. I have not been able to get here as often as I'd like lately so I may have missed some of your art . . . but none the less, the texture and composition in this piece is excellent. I have always admired your larger quilts, but THIS is something that really speaks to me -wow. I think the class you've been taking has really inspired you!!!!!!!!
