  2. Gee, I'll be glad when Indiana gets as up to date with their thinking about women as the artcle you posted...... ;)
Do you sense a tidbit of sarcasm???

  3. Well-l-l-l..... This article sounds like it was written by a horses-azz. Like they were writing a perfomance report on the caged hamsters they have in the lab.
The condescending attitude of this sounds like something my late father-in-law would maybe say....a biggot.....ignorant....rest his black heart!! WOW Listen to me RANT!! I guess it touched a nerve!!
I've tried to skate both ice & roller.... Just not coordinated!! I doubt these would help!!
    Bwahahahaha!!!
    Love Ya'!!

  4. I'm beginning to feel as if I haven't made much progress. One step up and two steps back. Must do something about that.

  6. This does sound a bit condescending and down right ridiculous, the old cliche, "We've come a long way baby!" And that was from a cigarette commercial to boot!! But we have and still need lots more work ahead of us. However, the author was probably being very sincere and creating thought-provoking fodder for the readership. One thing I have learned through out my life, studies and work, visiting the past is like visiting another planet and thank goodness....it should stay there. There are still many countries that need a feminine kick in the arse, but that will take time, lots of time and proactive women and supportive men.

    Off to make something wonderful.

    xxoo,
    Georgina

I need some of those roller skates! What a marvelous idea!

Could you please whisper "Malisa" to that name generator? Thanks!

  8. I do hope Mr. T doesn't see those skates ... . he'll rig some up in the garage and be rolling down the street in a heartbeat!

(and delivering loaves of fresh bread .. . )

  9. That article made me smile. Who knew women were so capable?! :) For the time it was probably meant to be thought provoking, and a boost to women. Thanks for posting that. Off to make something pretty.

  12. Tristan, you have opened up a can of worms, oh my!! This surely is an article from an era of times gone by! Yes, we have come a "long way baby". My how times have changed, all for the better!

Wonder what those young ladies of today think about this article?? I remember when we were fighting for many things, including it was okay to "burn your bra", oops, does that tell you how old I am, but we have certainly made things better and we have "come a long way"!!

Thanks for such a fun post.

  14. "I am woman......hear me roar!"

Love seeing these old articles, they are so sad/funny. Some of the funniest (and most pathetic) articles are from 40s/50s women's mags....oh 'so delightful' ideas on how the little woman should deport and dress herself to make hubby happy.

I wonder how women of today will be perceived in 100 years?

Those are literally pretty killer looking roller skates!

    Hugs!

  15. So what is the actual date on this article? And to think we 'almost/sorta' had a woman president and we do have a woman speaker of the house! Go figure! wonder what's next! Although, I have to admit, I'm very happy being a lowly wife, mother, grand mother and artist! Doesn't take much to make me happy and I don't need to compete with a man..ok, only with my better half!

And the article....archaic. But a great graphic in the center. Keep that, toss the rest.

  18. Oh these are marvelous vestiges of a time of innocence and fun. Tristan dearest...I thank you for contorting your digits on my behalf today for my thesis defense! GUESS WHAT? Madame Rivera (moi) was too stressed out and anxious and eager and too efficient today; I got to my adviser's office only to find the crickets chirping and a dark office. After checking the calender, I FOUND IT IS NEXT THURSDAY!!!! Oh you dear soul, thank you for thinking of me today! Your kind thoughts are not wasted. Bisous mon cher, Anita
