Joyous Holiday Wishes to You and Yours!

For me, on this, holiday, this is the perfect video...it's all about Easter couture - and it's translated into French!

I know that Marie Claire is now not all that sophisticated a magazine. It's mostly adverts for breast enhancers and cheap-make-up-of the-month-clubs. I mean - really - a one year subscription for eight dollars?! But at one time, it was almost as chic as Vogue or W. I thought I would share with you some of the wonderful millinery delights of decades past that Marie Claire decreed were the cat's meow - or pajamas - or litter box ... or ...

and my favorite...
Now, tell the truth - don't you want this adorable pom-pommed hat and transparent purse ensemble?! You know you'd be the belle of ... well ... something or other!
Perhaps with so many millinery choices, it might be wisest to just skip the hat and stick with the ever-classic veil. How can you go wrong? And - obviously - you don't even have to worry about choosing the correct blouse! The veil doubles as your top!

A most happy Easter to you ... I hope you're spending it with family or good friends - or alone in your studio making lovely things to share with us! Whatever your choice is, my best wishes for it to be exactly as you want it to be!

  4. It's been awhile since I saw "Easter Parade", such a warm and wonderful movie.
Thanks for sharing the clip Tristan. Hmm, when I watched this years ago, I didn't notice what an odd mix of eras Judy's dress was. The bodice is very 30s, and even the peplum and back drape are more early 30s, rather than 1912 when this was supposed to take place, but it is still fun to see all the hats, etc., parading Fifth Avenue.

Love the Marie Claire hats! My favorite is the little pink number with the veil...sassy!

Happy Easter wishes to you and yours.

And a great movie clip..set me up nicely..off out for lunch and all that walking has made me hungry!! (At least Judy got some bling at the end!!)

  14. Bring back hats I say!!! Hope you're feeling better. Thanks for the Easter greetings. About the Pysanky - I really should have my own collection, being a girl with Eastern European roots - but alas, no. These eggs, however, are faux...I mean really faux. They photograph beautifully but they are real hard boiled eggs that have these very tacky plastic sleeves that fit over them - then you did them into scalding water and the plastic wrapper shrinks to fit the egg...et voila! When I was a kid we had wonderful wax versions that were just too beautiful to eat...but you had to, of course. If you want any more info on them leave me a note. Have a very creative week, Tristan.

  21. Gorgeous! I wore a hat in Nice France several years ago and everyone stared; not because I was so chic, but I learned that NO ONE wears a hat in public unless you are part of a wedding party! I got so many strange stares and one kid flicked my hat off! Quel coulot! Anita

  22. Oh, the hats!! Awesome.

I am cursed by being unable to wear hats - I look like a mushroom if I do. So I am glad that I live in a hat-free era. But I do love to see other people wear them just so well.

  24. You find the neatest things to blog about, Tristin!

These hats are just awesome. I always thought I would have loved to be a millinery if I would have been born in an earlier generation - all of those beautiful velvet flowers and netting!

Hope you had a Happy Easter,

    Nancy

  26. How wonderful that you posted those wonderful hats. I noticed that Google had Life magazine on the front screen and they were featuring vintage hats..or Spring Hats. I almost created a post of them but I'm so dang sleepy that I changed my mind...lol! I would definately wear the green chapeau.

    BTW,

I'm Tagging you! Visit my blog for info and please, you won't hurt my feelings if you don't do tags..:)!
